Telemedicine is a rapidly growing field of medicine that uses telecommunications and information technology to provide clinical health care at a distance. Put simply, telemedicine allows medical professionals to provide medical care remotely. This means that patients can visit their doctor without having to leave the comfort of their homes. This groundbreaking technology is improving the quality of care for many patients.

Is Telemedicine Right for You?
If you suffer from arthritis, osteoporosis, or other musculoskeletal condition, Pacific Arthritis telehealth may be right for you. We understand that some conditions can make it difficult and even painful to travel. Instead, take advantage of the virtual setting. Combined with a mail-order pharmacy, you can have your treatment delivered to your doorstep and your doctor on your phone.
What to Expect During Your Telemedicine Visit
If you are using Pacific Arthritis telehealth for the first time, you may be wondering what to expect. You will need a computer or mobile device with a webcam and internet connection.
During your visit, you will be asked to provide information about yourself, including your name, date of birth, and medical history. You may also be asked to provide a current photo.
Next, you will be connected with your assigned doctor. He/she will ask you some questions about your symptoms and may perform a virtual exam by asking to you perform certain movements (Functional Movement Screen Test) or explain certain symptoms. After the initial exam, your doctor may also order tests or prescribe medication.
At the end of your visit, your doctor will update your patient records in order to track your progress with every visit. With your permission, we can also forward your records to your general physician to provide a comprehensive effort to help you.
What is Functional Movement Screen Testing?
Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Testing is one of the most effective methods for determining functional limitations in the body. Your test will act as a roadmap for optimizing your treatment goals. FMS allows physicians to measure your movement quality by assessing the range of motion, pain in described areas, and any other connected discomfort or symptoms
The benefits of this assessment include:
- Pain identification
- Injury prevention
- Initial symptom tracking data
